The Barn Project  2007-2008

We are proud to announce that after years of effort, FCER is finally getting a 10 stall horse barn!  This MD barn is made possible by the generous donation of private donors, and hours of volunteer work to erect the barn.  We recieved our Final Inspection on 2-26-08!  There is much work to be done, as well as materials needed -  fencing, pipe, feeders, posts, and waterers.
Please click on the link to enter the pictoral journal of The Barn Raising, and follow along with us through our hard work and excitement until the day the Horses Move In!

Ground Preparation
Jason & Damian mark the building site
Cement forms going up
The cement is done, and the sand goes in (with a little help from Dudley the dog).
The Big Day - Unloading the Barn from the Semi truck (11-10-07)
All the pieces to put together
Two days of grunting - most of the wall are up!
Starting on the Roof -YES!
Puttin' down the roof panels
And the work goes on - even in the snow
We're gettin' close
Buddy's ready to move in
Details yet to be completed - but the Barn passes the Buddy Test!
Things yet to complete:
The door drip edge
02-26-08
We got our Occupancy Inspection and Passed!!

Now, on to building the pens for each stall - and for that we need:
2 7/8 inch pipe (700 feet)
7 rolls of 2 x 4 fencing
Cement
10 gates - 8'
LOTS OF LABOR

Then to move on to waterers and feeders
But the Barn is a respite from the storms of the winter already, and the Seniors love it!

Thanks to all those who have helped make the dream of a barn a reality!

Laura and Earl Johnson of Pine River Construction, the NM distributor for MD Barns.  For staying with us through 2 years of revisions and for finding the 8 exterior barn walls to donate to us!

The crew of Joe R Chavez Construction for donating hours of labor and the cement forms - not to mention the knowledge of how to do it!

The crew of Five Star Mechanical for donating hours of labor and knowledge for the roof and the rafters.

And to the following individuals for all their time and knowledge -
Jason Nagle, Bill Izerda & family, Danny Kennedy & family & Beeler Lupton

FCER is a nonprofit 501(c)3 charitable organization, and all donations are tax-deductible.
