The photos on this page are of Sox, Kicker and Eeyor. The horses came to us with these names, although they don't seem to know their names, nor are the names reflective of their personalities. We'll address that at a later time, first we must get these horses on the path to health.
UPDATE - Sept. 20th, 2008 All three horses are now at the FCER main facility. Kicker has been renamed Amigo, a much better reflection of his personality. And the best news - he now has a sponsor! Congratulations to Linda! Those big brown eyes and loving personality did her in.
Eeyor is now renamed Rusty. He is making progress with his vision is the right eye, but the left one seems unable to improve. Rusty adjusts very easily, and is eager to make friends with people. This is one special little horse.
Sox is still named Sox, although she doesn't seem to recognize it. She's eating by the bale and gaining weight at about 4 pounds a day. She's not so people friendly yet, but we vow to change that!
UPDATE - December 16, 2008 Amigo, Sox and Rusty all continue to make great progress! Amigo has fulfilled his weight gain requirements, and is due for an assessment. He'll most likely then be made available for adoption. Sox has made the greatest progress, and is already in the trial period for adoption! Rusty will be forever blind, and be staying on here at FCER. We're trying to teach him to go inside his shelter, as winter has arrived, and he needs to get out of the storms! Progress is slow, and he seems to be frightened. Perhaps it's the darkness in the shelter, we don't know. But we are placing hay just inside the shelter, and the hay is gone when we go to check, and there's usually a deposit of manure!
