Karen began volunteering with FCER in 2025 when looking to adopt – she and her husband left with not one, but two, for a big, happy family of adopted horses, cats, and dogs! – and joined the FCER Board of Directors in 2026. As an educational psychologist and lifelong animal lover, she brings a diverse background working with equines, educating humans, and researching human-animal interactions. Karen believes in applying psychology to support autonomy, grow competence, and nurture positive relationships, and is excited to support FCER’s mission and help equines and their human partners form connections that meet both of their needs.
